Firstly, let us just address the elephant in the crypto room. In the MegaCryptoPolis game you can buy and sell Citizens and they are classed as ‘Assets’. The parallels to the slave trade are clear but as these ‘Citizens’ are just computer code and not actual people we can do this with a clear conscience. So….
One potential revenue source is to produce Citizens and then sell them on to other players. It is difficult to keep an eye on how many sales actually go through here but I’m going to try and monitor both the secondary and primary market over the next few months.
Primary Market: Let’s look at how you buy new Citizens from in the MCP 3d game, screenshot from today below. They launched the packs in November 2019, so about 3 months ago and as you can see, they’ve sold a decent amount in that time. Overall, out of the 7,500 packs 4,461 have been sold with the lowest price option having completely sold out. The price increases slightly as sales go through, which makes it difficult to gauge how much ETH have gone into the game here, but it should be well over 1,000 ETH. I’m going to keep an eye on these prices and how many sell over the next few months. If you want to check them yourself, go to the MegaCrytoPolis Game here.

Note – these packs aren’t just Citizens. You get ‘at least’ 1 generation A Citizen as well as a number of other items. I believe there is the chance to get more than 1 Citizen but when I purchased an Urban Pack I got just the 1.
Secondary Market: If you’re looking to sell your Citizens or pick up a few new members for your Tribe, then you can go to the secondary market. Here they currently have everything from a 17 ETH astronaut (MCP’s idea of the ‘Ultimate citizen’) to a lowly Gen Cs & Ds, the cheapest currently being Ian Bauch who costs just 0.028 ETH (come on Ian, try harder!). As MCP doesn’t display data on sales, all I can really do here is keep an eye on turnover in the market.

There are currently 17 pages of Citizens for sale which amounts to 402 Citizens for sale. I’m not going to track every individual but instead keep an eye on a few other broader things.:
- The total number on the market: As supply and demands varies you’d expect the number of available Citizens to fluctuate. As stated above there are currently 402 Citizens available.
- Total in each generation (A-D): Currently there are 60 Gen A, 268 Gen B, 65 Gen C and 7 Gen D. (If you’re wondering why this only adds up to 400 and not 402 it is because there are 2 Gen E Citizens which I’m not planning on tracking for now. If this number increases significantly and if further Generations pop up, I will start looking at those as well.
- High and Low prices in each generation (A-D): Currently Gen A, 0.83 – 17.91 ETH / Gen B, 0.03 – 1.5 ETH / Gen C. 0.028 – 0.5 ETH / Gen D, 0.034 – 0.4 ETH.
I appreciate this isn’t a flawless analysis. It is possible to take Citizens off the market without having actually sold them, so a decline in numbers could be players giving up trying rather than the demand going crazy. However, we’d expect the price to go down and numbers to fall if that was the case, so we should be able to make some interesting deductions from tracking these items.
There are ways of improving the skills and therefore earning potential of the Citizens which is what I’ll be looking at in the next few posts.
